Clay repairs

One of the most difficult parts of field maintenance is taking care of the pitcher’s mound and batter’s box. At the end of each game day, the foot holes created in these positions need to be repaired. Here’s how to do it.

Repairing foot holes

  1. Sweep all loose dirt out of the way.
  2. Wet the clay in and around the foot hole.
  3. Add loose clay into the hole.
  4. Tamp until compacted
  5. Repeat steps 3-4 until level.
  6. Wet the clay again.
  7. Rake loose dirt back over the clay.
  8. Put tarp on.
