One the most critical skills in baseball.
Learning how to throw properly will improve your accuracy, velocity and strength. Poor mechanics cause inaccuracy and injury.
This page is all about learning how to throw and maybe even pitch.
Talented junior arms should be protected from over throwing. This is often controlled by pitch counts, but overthrowing can also be caused by throwing outside of monitored games.
Players that are high performers should focus on building their technique and strength, before placing a heavy load upon their arm.
Learning when and how to throw in a game makes the player.
There are two main ways to grip a baseball.
A four seam grip, is determined by the number of seams that cross in a 360 degree turn… 4!
Sometimes you won’t have the time to change your grip before making a throw. Often, you’ll grab a two seam grip.
With two less seams ‘gripping’ the air, this grip is more likely to lead to the ball ‘tailing’ away from your throwing hand. If you find yourself with this grip and no time, a small adjustment in your target to account for the movement through the air is usually enough.
